Alex’s Rooted phone

Illustrative Rooted teen phone showing My Day, sample plans and everyday essentials

Mom’s guidance. Alex’s day.

The essentials close by. A simple plan for the day.

Illustrative walkthrough with sample plans, a shared location and app choices. The example map is provided by Google Maps. No changes reach a real phone.
The teen experience is in development.

Connection, with room to breathe

The phone is a small part.
Their life is the big part.

The everyday things, made simpler

A shared day.
A little reassurance.

01 / Share the day

The right plan.
Right there.

Share pickup plans and notes in My Day. If you use parent-side AI to prepare details, you review them before sending.

02 / Stay connected

A shared location.
A clear choice.

See the latest point your teen chooses to share. They can see sharing is on and stop it on their phone.

03 / Choose useful tools

Chosen together.
Within clear limits.

Choose from Rooted’s age-appropriate app list. Your teen downloads only what you approve, with no open app store.

Illustrative examples. Parent controls are in development; app availability depends on age, the exact package and supported phone software.

Useful freedom. Clear boundaries.

Their people.
Their day. Your guidance.

Simple rules you agree on. A confirmation when the latest controls reach their phone.

01 / Approved contacts

Keep their people close.

Limit Rooted calls and texts to approved contacts. Your teen requests new people; you review them. Emergency calling stays available.

02 / School & bedtime

Room for the rest of life.

Set school hours, bedtime or a temporary pause. Saved routines work offline; essentials and selected approved apps stay available.

03 / A thoughtful check-in

A little reassurance.

“I arrived.” “Please call me.” Simple check-ins in Family, plus optional place notices while your teen visibly shares location.

In development for ages 13+. Matching phone and RootedOS updates are required. Parent changes take effect after internet sync; saving is not an instant remote lock. Device, carrier and reliability checks continue.

Trust is part of the design

Clear boundaries.
Open conversations.

Guidance should leave room for trust. Rules are understandable. Sharing is visible. Conversations stay theirs.

  • No message-content scanning
  • No route history
  • No open browser or social feeds

The details, in the open.

What do contact limits cover?

Rooted calls, texts, group and picture messages require approved participants when contact-only mode is on. The owning parent reviews requests. Communication inside approved apps follows those apps’ own rules. These controls do not provide a parent inbox of every conversation.

What stays available during routines?

Calls, texts, My Day, Clock and Family remain available, along with approved apps you choose to keep available. Saved hours use your family’s chosen time zone and work offline. New parent changes need internet and take effect after sync.

How do location and place notices work?

Sharing is visible and can be stopped on the teen’s phone. Only the latest point is kept for up to 15 minutes. Optional named-place notices expire after 24 hours; Rooted does not keep a route history. Changing places requires review and restarting sharing. Accuracy, reception and battery settings can delay or prevent notices.

Are check-ins emergency alerts?

No. Check-ins and place notices appear in Family; they are not emergency alerts or guaranteed immediate notifications. “I arrived” and “Please call me” check-ins attach no GPS.

Something worth taking time for
